12 of the Most Frustrating PC Games We Can’t Help but Love

So we are all looking forward to getting off of work to go home and play that game – you know which one I’m talking about – that game that you are thinking about right now. The one that you can’t stop loving to hate because you can’t get past the next level or you can’t get three stars, or whatever the goal may be. Some of these games you may know, some you may want to know. Either way, I think that you will want to get strapped in, and get playing as soon as possible.

FTL: Faster Than Light

Faster Than Light

Even though you do a pre-flight check, get your best weapons, crew, and tech, you launch and get blown up in about 15 seconds. The original concept was based on tabletop board games, so it’s a little retro, and has a “homespun” feel to it.

Dark Souls

Dark Souls

Being an undead soldier, you would think you would be a little tougher. Alas, across every dungeon floor, bridge, and corner lies a trap, explosion, huge rock, or whatever to end your afterlife.

Braid

Braid

When you can manipulate the laws of the universe, and bend time, there isn’t much you can do. In this game, however, doing it right is the only way to go, and let me tell you sometimes it feels like an eternity just to get your objective.

DayZ

DayZ

Zombie Apocalypse – what else is there? Practice, and don’t get killed by your fellow human for food, or else you have to start all over.

QWOP

Is the most frustrating game on this list, but you know you just want to get it right before clocking in from lunch, or doing your homework? Best of all, it can play in just about any browser.

Super Meat Boy

Super Meat Boy

While this sounds like a really lame super hero, it’s just a guy who looks like meat, and is trying to save his girlfriend from Dr. Fetus. Yes, you read that correctly. The cool thing is that it has 300 levels, and multiple deaths at the end of the level.

XCOM: Enemy unknown

XCOM Enemy Unknown

Turn based sci-fi action is here, and it’s cool. Aliens, humasn, guns, and fun.

Super Hexagon

Super Hexagon

I can’t even look at this game without going crazy. If Button mashing is a favorite past time sport of yours, this game is for you and your short attention span. Games are long if they last a minute.

Portal 2

Portal 2

This confusing sequel to the original is quite awesome, with your ability to create portals just about anywhere; you can work with another player or by yourself in this advanced space puzzle game. Regardless of the outcome, you will keep banging your head against the desk until you get it right.

League of Legends

League of Legends

This MMO is part strategy, part luck, and part making friends. Since the game is so heavy reliant on groups, you need to beef up your skills, and get into that group in order to really get the good stuff.

Cart Life

Cart Life

This game is like life – a little depressing, a little fun at times, but you really never know what you are going to get. I don’t know if the name is a takeoff on the term “Thug Life”, but it would be ironically funny.

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead

This game is like a bad relationship –trials, and tribulations, sprinkled with a few happy and glorious moments. You keep coming back hoping something will change, but it never does. This game feels like when you lean back in your chair and almost fall, but you catch yourself at the last minute.

All in all, these games are entertaining disasters that I love to hate. I hope you will too.

Cart life, Portal 2, Walking Dead, and even Braid do not belong on this list. Those games aren’t that hard to beat. Give me a fucking break. Who wrote this shit, Huffington Post?
