Many gamers were quite excited when they learned that the MMO-shooter, Defiance, would be available for free download and play on consoles on July 15th. Unfortunately, Trion Worlds, the developer of the game, has decided to postpone the F2P (free to play) release of the game on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 systems.
The decision came after a recent patch was released that ultimately made the game worse. Gamers across all platforms, especially the PS3 and 360, have been experiencing higher-than-normal spurts of lag, glitches, and even complete freezes on the Defiance game. The development team is hard at work attempting to correct these issues.
Trion Worlds decided that before introducing a presumably large number of new players into the game while it is in a broken state that they would work to fix issues with the game before making it available as a F2P title on the Xbox Live Marketplace or Playstation Store.
The game will still be available for free download on both consoles but there is currently no exact date of when that will be. Defiance was originally supposed to launch as F2P for console gamers on July 15th. The delay announcement was made just a day before the expected launch on July 14th by community team member, Scapes, on the official Defiance forums.
