In Black Ops 2, the AN-94 is a powerful assault rifle. It’s fully automatic like others but also has a unique quality to it. The first couple of shots fired from the gun are faster and stronger than the rest of the clip. This makes it possible to effectively burst shot enemies with the AN, especially considering it deals a moderate amount of damage. Today we have outlined a great class setup for the AN-94 for players to try out.
Here’s our video overview of the full loadout:
The AN-94 operates and feels very similar to the AK47 featured in several past COD titles. It’s strong, has decent range, and is fairly accurate. For many players this is the AR of choice in BO2. It works well in most gametypes and situations that involve mid to long range gun fights. It is not especially effective in close quarters combat, though.
Recommended Attachments: Reflex Sight, Fast Mag
This gun has terrible stock sights (in our honest opinion). The sights are huge and really block your view a bit when going to ADS (aiming down sights). This is why we prefer to throw on the Reflex Sight for the AN. It’s basically the equivalent of the red dot sight from other COD games and it works really well with the AN. The reload time on this gun feels super slow and can be a cause for trouble if you get in a position where you’re facing multiple enemies at once. That’s why we also recommend using the Fast Mag attachment.

The TAC-45 seems to be one of the very undervalued pistols in BO2. Everyone typically goes for either the B23R or the KAP-40 but the TAC is by far one of the best handguns in the game. It pumps out a ton of damage per shot making it easy to take out enemy players with just a few bullets. It works best in close to medium ranges but is overall a very powerful pistol and a great weapon to have on your secondary slot.
Tier 1 – Lightweight: This perk gives you the ability to run around a bit faster than other players and also avoid taking any fall damage. This allows you to move around to the backside of enemies quickly to flank them before they even know what hit them. This is great to have on a power class like this.
Tier 2 – Toughness: Sometimes when you get in mid to long range gun fights and you’re taking bullets, you’ll notice your sights will bounce around a bit, making it more difficult to aim. Toughness reduces the amount of kick you receive when taking hits, thus improving your overall accuracy.
Tier 3 – Extreme Conditioning: This perk compliments Lightweight perfectly. Not only will you be able to move faster than your enemies but you’ll also be able to run for longer distances, making it easier to either flank your opponents or make an escape when you get in a bad situation and need to make a getaway.
As we mentioned in the video, the equipment you choose for your AN-94 loadout depends greatly on the gametype you’ll be playing. Different gametypes require different strategies. But here are our general recommendations:
Lethal – Frag Grenade (if playing kill-based gametypes like TDM), Bouncing Betty (if playing objective based gametypes and you like to play INSIDE the objective), or C4 (if playing objective based gametypes and you like to play OUTSIDE the objective).
Tactical – Concussion (if playing kill based games like TDM), Trophy System (if playing objective based gametypes where you like to play INSIDE the objective), Black Hat PDA (if playing objective games where you like to play OUTSIDE the objective).
And that wraps up our class setup recommendation for the AN-94. This loadout is really designed for more aggressive players but can also be used to take opponents out from a medium distance when setting up in a back area.
